Dr. Andrew F. Calman

M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Andrew Calman received his BS and MS degrees from Yale University, and his MD and PhD from UCSF, where he completed his ophthalmology residency and now serves on the clinical faculty. Dr. Calman is not only a board-certified ophthalmologist, he actually administers the examination to candidates for board certification. He helped pioneer modern cataract treatments, and performs and teaches advanced procedures for cataract, glaucoma, and retinal disease. For many years Dr. Calman was Medicare's consultant for regional eye care policy, and he received the coveted Achievement and Special Recognition Awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology for his services to the profession. He speaks seven languages proficiently, has made contact with over 180 countries via amateur radio, and is a local leader in the FEMA Community Emergency Response Team.

Dr. Tara Pahlevan
O.D.

Dr. Tara Pahlevan received her bachelor of science in cognitive psychology at York University in Toronto, Canada. She then attended UC Berkeley School of Optometry where she also completed her residency in Ocular Disease, working alongside retinal and glaucoma specialists at both the school and the surrounding community clinics. Additionally, she had the opportunity to teach clinical skills to third and fourth year optometry students during her year as a resident. Dr. Pahlevan has diverse experience in management of ocular disease and is proficient in pre- and post- operative care of patients interested in ocular surgery. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the Bay Area and the beautiful surrounding nature. She is also an avid baker and enjoys gardening and taking care of her home plants.

Dr. Rebecca Stapornkul,
O.D.

Dr. Rebecca Stapornkul was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from UCLA and Optometry degree from UC Berkeley. She then completed her ocular disease residency at Detroit Veterans Affairs Medical Center. During her free time, she enjoys frequenting wildlife sanctuaries and science museums, venturing outdoors, eating, and volunteering.
